Director

Internet Filmmakers' FAQ

The Director is the person responsible for the creative vision of the film - getting a movie from script to screen. They work closely with the Director of Photography, Production Designer, and Editor to define the look of the film, and are responsible for selecting the cast and getting the performance desired.

Although the Director is largely in control of the moving the film forward, the Producer will normally always have the final say on a film production.

Professional directors are represented by organisations such as The Directors Guild of America, The Directors Guild of Great Britain, The Directors Guild of Canada, and The Australian Screen Directors Association.
