Film student Former Student, 03-Oct-2007I'm NOT a student in National Arts Academy (ASWARA) but I heard this school teaches you hands-on 'bout the film production. Being a government sponsored school, they have the privillage of getting a great amount of film equipment which many other film schools in Malaysia couldn't afford. They also get instant connection with the people in the industry. But the down-fall on this school is that they teaches the student in the Malay Language, so I think the school is only for the locals and if any international students want to study here, they have to learn the Malay Language first. I went to ASWARA quite a few times for Student Film Festivals and a few shows, I have to say that I don't really like the environment. All and all, if you're Malaysian and you want instant connection with the industry people, go ahead and enroll in ASWARA; the fees are cheap and wouldn't hurt to be 'nice' to the professors.
