Reviews of The Russian Federation State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK)

Eduardo J. Piano Former Student, 09-May-2009
Despite the advent of new technology and an open market economy (read: the Hollywood invasion of Eastern Europe), I sincerely hope, that VGIK will still maintain the CLASSIC and TRADITIONAL style of filmmaking that they taught their students until the perestroika/glasnost era. The influenced of Soviet Montage film directors, of Gerasimov and Kulidzhanov (may "master" during my studies in VGIK, the other two being Tamara Feodovna Makarova, and Kim Tavrizhian), of Andrei Tarkovsky and Vassily Shukshin, of Mikhail Kalatozov, Eldar Ryazhanov, and Nikita Mikhalkov are truly unforgettable and monumental deserving of world recognition. More Power, VGIK!!! Simon Eduardo Philippines
